SoilsWest researchers recognised for incredible long-term contribution

Two members of the SoilsWest alliance have been recognised for their brilliant contribution to soil science in Australia and beyond after receiving awards from Soil Science Australia.
SoilsWest co-director and DPIRD Manager – Soil Science and Crop Nutrition Chris Gazey received the LJH Teakle Award.
Murdoch University Professor of Sustianable Land Manager Richard Bell was awarded the JA Prescott Medal.
“I enjoy in-depth research and seeing its application to farmers; I have a deep respect for farmers and their ability to produce crops. Being able to contribute to that through the study of soils keeps me engaged and motivated,” said Professor Bell speaking to Murdoch University media.
“I believe agriculture is a very honourable profession. Wherever I am in the world, I love going onto farms, talking to farmers, seeing what they’re doing and why they do it.”
