SoilsWest to talk constraints, courses at Open Day
HOW’S YOUR backyard soil knowledge?
Visitors to Murdoch University Open Day on Saturday, May 23 will have the chance to explore acidity, alkalinity and water repellence – common soil constraints that may be affecting their own gardens.
SoilsWest will share a stand with the School of Agricultural Science for the annual event, which showcases the many opportunities available to prospective students.
Murdoch University’s Bachelor of Agricultural Science includes majors in Crop and Pasture Science, Animal Science and Animal Health.
SoilsWest’s water repellence activity will support its promotion of Soil Quality Courses, a free online platform focused on soil and plant nutrition.
While Soil Quality Courses has also been designed for land managers, producers, researchers, advisors and farm workers, it offers supplementary self-paced education for students (and casual learners) who wish to improve their understanding of soil.
The first of three courses, Fundamental Soil and Plant Nutrition, was released in February. It is anticipated that course two, Understanding Soil and Plant Nutrition, will be available next month.
You will find SoilsWest and the School of Agricultural Science on Open Day at Northern Plaza (courtyard), Boola Katitjin from 10am till 3pm.
Present this flyer (digital or printed) at the stand for a free soil pit tape measure!*
