Regional Soil Coordinator update
Jenni Clausen (South-West WA Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub Regional Soil Coordinator) has had a jam-packed schedule with lots of engagements around the state.
She joined the National Soil Extension Community of Practice on their visit to WA in August, traveling to a Soil CRC field trial, discussing management with growers, visiting to the UWA Ridgefield farm hearing about the latest research from UWA researchers, learning from the Healthy Estuaries extension program, and undertaking training in soil classification with Angela Stuart-Street (DPIRD) at Murdoch’s Whitby Falls Farm.
Jen also traveled to Canarvon with Rangelands NRM’s Russell Shaw to discuss key production systems and soil issues.
Jen’s delivered presentations in the last few months at the West Midlands Group Student Field Walk (pictured) and Spring Field Day, SEPWA’s Esperance Ladies Day, and DPIRD’s soil course in Manjimup. Earlier in October along with Theo Nabben (GGA-SWWA Hub), Jen ran a case study training session for grower groups in the northern ag region with Smart Farm: Soil Extension projects, which she said was a great day of discussion and sharing experiences.
