Dr Hassan Sardar

My role

I have been working as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Land Management Group at Murdoch University’s Centre for Crop and Food Innovation since January 2024.

My work at Murdoch focuses on soil constraints — including sodicity, poor water and nutrient retention, and soil compaction — across a range of soil types (sandy, duplex, compacted, and heavy soils) and climates, from low- to medium-rainfall regions.

Through field-based research and experimentation across Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland, I work to develop sustainable, practical solutions to these constraints for growers.

My background

I completed my PhD in Agricultural Science at Murdoch University in 2023.

Following this, I worked with the DPIRD Northam team on the WA Sodic Soils Project, investigating sodicity levels across a range of regions in Western Australia.

Since early 2024, I have been a Postdoctoral Fellow at Murdoch University, working across several projects covering topics such as future carbon solutions, drought resilience, and amelioration of sub-soil constraints.

Projects

Evaluating Novel Approaches for Drought Resilience Through Capitalising on an Established Network of Long-Term Trials (2024-2028, current)

Capitalising on Six Multi-State Established Field Trials for Ameliorating (Sub) Soil Constraints (2024-2027, current)

New Farming Methods to Sequester Soil Carbon (completed)
