My role

I am a research scientist specialising in soil science, currently engaged in the Soil Water and Nutrition (SWAN) Collaboration, which is co-funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).

I take pleasure in conducting fieldwork and experiments aimed at developing sustainable solutions for complex soil and agronomic challenges.

My background

I have been a research scientist with DPIRD since 2022 and have over 10 years’ experience in agricultural research.

My research includes managing soil acidity, compaction and sodicity, soil microbiology and water use efficiency.

Projects

  • Soil Water and Nutrition (SWAN) Collaboration: Transforming Water and Nutrient Use Efficiency in WA Grain Production (DAW2407-001SPX)
  • Re-engineering Soils to Improve the Access of Crop Root Systems to Water and Nutrients Stored in the Subsoil (DAW1902-003RTX) (previous)

Key expertise

Soil chemistry and plant nutrition, soil amelioration, soil acidity, soil compaction and soil microbiology, crop root scanning, geographic information systems (GIS), drone imaging and water use efficiency

Qualifications

PhD Agricultural Science (Soil Chemistry and Plant Nutrition), The University of Melbourne, Australia

MSc Agricultural Chemistry, Bangladesh Agricultural University

BSc Agriculture (Hons), Bangladesh Agricultural University
